Measuring your bra size
Did you know that 80% of women wear the wrong bra size? You wear a bra almost all day long. So it is very important that it fits well.
Why is the right bra size or fit so important?
Wearing the right bra size is important for both comfort and support. A well-fitting bra ensures that your breasts are optimally supported, reducing strain on your back and shoulders and improving your posture. In addition, the right size prevents annoying discomforts such as pinching straps, painful underwires or breasts protruding from the cups. A bra that fits perfectly not only makes you feel better, but also makes your clothes fall better and boosts your self-confidence. This is why it is important to regularly check your bra size and choose one that supports your body perfectly.
This is how you can measure your bra size.
To measure your size, you will need a flexible tape measure. Also make sure you wear a ‘normal’ bra, so no push-up or pre-shaped bra, so you can measure correctly.
Watch the video and follow the steps accordingly
Step 1
Determine your underbust size
Use the tape measure to measure your lower chest width. Measure around your body. It is important to keep the tape measure at the same height throughout. So, as horizontal as possible. Before measuring, breath normally and measure after you have exhaled: the under the bust width should be measured as tightly as possible. The number of centimetres you measure is underbust width. You then round this off to the nearest even number.
Step 2
Measuring your
cup size
Stand up straight, with your arms along your body and measure around your body at the fullest part of your breasts. When doing this, make sure you have a normal bra on, so no push-up. Keep the tape measure at the same height everywhere. So, as horizontal as possible. Do not measure too tightly around your body. The tape measure should touch your breasts but do not press or pull the tape too tight. The number of centimetres you measure is your cup size.
Step 3
Check your size in the size chart
Now that you have measured your underbust width and cup size, you can easily calculate your bra size. Use our convenient lingerie calculator for this. Enter your circumference width and cup size and you will immediately see which size is best to order. How easy do you want it to be!

Sister sizes for the right bra size
When finding the right bra size, so-called ‘sister sizes’ can help you. Sister sizes are bra sizes that are similar in cup content, but have a different band size. The rule of thumb in determining sister sizes is: one size down in circumference means one cup size up. Vice versa too: one size up in circumference means one cup size down. For example, if you normally wear an 80C, a 75D or an 85B may also fit. This is useful to know if you can’t find your ideal size. Understanding sister sizes can help you find the perfect fit, even if you have to switch out to another size.
When is a bra a good fit?
How should your bra strap fit?
The bra strap often does not get the attention it deserves, when in fact it is crucial for proper support. It is important that the bra strap fits perfectly. You can easily check if your bra strap fits properly by looking in the mirror and seeing if it is parallel to the cups. A new bra is a good fit when you can close it on the outer hooks and two fingers still fit between the bra strap and your back. If the bra is too tight, it may pinch. If the bra is too loose, you will lose the necessary support. With a well-fitting bra, the shoulder straps will not cut into your skin, because the bra strap provides sufficient support.
How should the cups fit?
Your breasts should fit completely into the cups of the bra and fill the cups as much as possible. It may be helpful to lift your breasts slightly after putting on the bra and carefully place them in the cups. Make sure your breasts do not stick out at the sides or top, as this indicates that the cup size is too small. The underwire and the centre piece between the cups should lie flat against your body, without pressing. If the centre piece comes up or does not lie flat, it is a sign that the cups are too small.
What is my brief size?
Want to measure your brief size? Then stand upright in front of a mirror. Make sure the measuring tape is neither too tight nor too loose. Measure the circumference of your hip by holding the tape measure at the widest part of the hips.
With the list below, see which size slip is best to choose:
93 – 98 centimetres hip circumference = XS
98 – 103 centimetres hip circumference = S
103 – 108 centimetres hip circumference = M
108 – 113 centimetres hip circumference = L
113 – 118 centimetres hip circumference = XL
118 – 123 centimetres hip circumference = XXL
Frequently asked questions about finding the right bra
How should a bra sit?
When you wear the right bra, you shouldn’t actually feel it, it should basically be like a second skin.
How do you know if you are wearing the wrong size?
It is important to measure regularly because your size can change over the years. Due to weight gain or weight loss, illness, pregnancy, etc. A bra in the right size gives you a more beautiful silhouette and is also more comfortable. When a bra is no longer comfortable, most women probably opt for a bra with a larger underbust size. But this is not always the best choice. If you are currently experiencing any of the problems below, you are not wearing the right bra size.
My bra shifts (slightly)
The underbust width, size is probably a little too loose. Therefore, your bra is shifting. The solution is simple; a bra in a smaller size. Are you currently wearing a 75C? Then try a 70C. This bra has the same cup as the 75C bra, but with a tighter fit.
The shoulder straps press into my shoulders and irritate the skin
Your shoulder straps are too tight. Loosen them and you’ll feel an immediate difference. You probably did this to get more support from your bra. But actually, your bra support should come from your bra size; not the shoulder straps. If the size under your breasts is too wide for you, your shoulder straps do all the carrying and support of your breasts; thereby cutting into your skin and sometimes leaving painful red marks on your shoulders.
The shoulder straps keep falling off my shoulders
If the shoulder straps keep falling off your shoulders, the straps are too loose. Probably the underbust size of your bra is also too big. Are you wearing an 80B? Then try a 75B.
My breasts omen from the top of the bra/cups
The cups are too small, so your breasts don’t fit nicely. We recommend trying a larger cup size.
My breasts can be seen under the cups
When this is the case, the under breast size of your bra is too large. Your bra does not fit your body nicely. Are you wearing an 80B? A 75B will probably fit you better.
The cups are wrinkled and do not fit my breasts nicely
The cups are supposed to be smooth If this is not the case, your cup is too big. Try a smaller cup size. Are you wearing an 80D? Then try an 80C.
